As we prepare to celebrate another Thanksgiving holiday, I once again reflect upon those things which I am so grateful for. I am truly humbled and blessed to have so very many things that I am thankful for this year. One of the greatest blessings my family has received is the move back into town. God totally orchestrated the whole process of bringing us to our nice home in a nice neighborhood, with a nice school for our son.

I am also very happy that we are only two miles from our church home. With so very many pastors today preaching tolerance to sin and more and more Christians becoming so complacent, it is extremely difficult to find a church with a real Bible preaching, teaching pastor. I am proud to say that our preacher is a fundamental Baptist preacher who is not afraid to teach straight from the King James Version Bible. He refuses to give up God’s Holy Word and the fact that Jesus, and only Jesus, saves. He continues to teach that the saved soul is a changed soul, AND, he refuses to drift with the mainstream away from God. He recently took us to Romans 1:18-32. Though it is probably the saddest scripture in Romans, it is a good comparison to what is happening in our country now-a-days. We are witnessing what happens to a land when its citizens become thankless to God and forget Him and go their own way.

Romans 1:18-32 “18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19. because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shewed it unto them. 20. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21. because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23. and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”

Why is God angry? Could it be because most church leaders have replaced the truth about Him with lies? People today would rather believe anything that supports their own selfish lifestyles than listen to the truth. They cannot stand the conviction that truth brings. They have brought God down to their own “corruptible” level, instead of looking upward and giving Him the true reverence that He deserves as our Creator.

Therefore, we have those preachers who pacify their congregations with what they think makes them comfortable and keeps them coming back. One of the worst sins in the church today is homosexual preachers preaching a distorted Word to their followers. I dare say, they will one day stand before God and be held accountable for leading so many astray. I do not believe that any homosexual has a right to preach in any pulpit. They are living a life of sin and they have no business in a place of leadership in the church.

“24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25. who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

“26. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27. and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”

“28. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29. being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30. backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31. without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32. who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

America is seeing the consequences of drifting away of our God. The Godly values and precepts our country was founded on are now disdained by many. There is no longer shame in sin, but it is openly tolerated everywhere. God’s Word is distorted, discarded, mocked and ridiculed. There are those who are fighting with all of their might to take the name of God and everything that symbolizes Him out of our culture. Those people are doing Satan’s work.

The following video is a great reminder of our how our forefathers believed and what this great nation was founded on. It is my prayer this holiday season that all those who call themselves Christians, but have fallen away, get down on their knees in repentance, do away with complacency and stand up for Godly values once again. Our nation will fall unless we see a great revival in the hearts of God’s children, their homes, churches, and across this United States. Let us really bow down and be thankful to our God in heaven and bring ourselves back to Him.

While Israel was in captivity by the Babylonians, Daniel was given the book/prophecies of Jeremiah. After reading the book, he concluded that the time was near for his people to return to Jerusalem. He read God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:14: “I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity.”

Since Daniel had experienced literal fulfillment of prophecy in his life, this was a great revelation for him. He had been praying for many years that Israel would be restored, and he knew that God would fulfill his promise in Jeremiah. Daniel was also a very strong man of God who prayed to Him three times a day, every day; he knew how to move God in prayer.

The following is the prayer Daniel prayed for God to fulfill his promise and deliver his people. Though it was a prayer of confession of the sins of the nation, he did not judge the sinners. He associated himself with the sins of his people 32 times, acknowledged their deserved judgement, and petitioned God for mercy. He approached God on the basis of his loyal love and humbled himself with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.

Daniel 9:3-19(NKJV): 3. “Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 4. And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, 5. we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. 6. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land.”

7. “O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day–to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jeruselem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.”

8. “O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You. 9. To the Lord our God belongs mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him. 10. We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.”

11. “Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore, the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him. 12. And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judge us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such never has been done as what has been done to Jerusalem.”

13. “As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us; yet we have not made our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth. 14. Therefore the Lord has kept the disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice.”

15. “And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day–we have sinned, we have done wickedly!”

16. “O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all who are around us.”

17. “Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate.”

18. “O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies.”

19. “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.” (Bold type added by author)

We could very easily substitue “Israel, Judah, and Jerusalem” with the words “The United States” and pray this same prayer for the recovery of our nation’s Godly morals and values. DO YOU EVER WONDER WHY OUR NATION IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION?
